Todd Gurley looks good on long TD run, joins legends on historic list
The Atlanta Falcons, who ran Todd Gurley back, were barely challenged in a touchdown run that got him into elite society.
Gurley made it 35 yards to the end zone minutes after the Falcons' week 5 home game against the Carolina Panthers. He was only touched around the 20-yard line and barely there.
It was his fifth score of the season and his longest touchdown run since the 2018 playoffs when he was with the Los Angeles Rams.
The result was career touchdown # 75 for the veteran's sixth year. Gurley, who turned 26 in August, joins four Hall of Famers as the only player in history to reach the 75 touchdown mark before his 27th birthday.
Gurley did so in his 78th game, falling slightly short of the steps set by Jim Brown, 72, LaDainian Tomlinson, 72, and Emmitt Smith (77).
The former Georgia star led the league with 19 and 21 touchdowns in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, respectively. If he continues his trend of a touchdown game, he will end his first season with the Falcons at 16, the third highest of his career.
