Tom Cruise hilariously torments James Corden with aerial stunt in a fighter jet

On Monday night's Late Late Show, Tom Cruise took James Corden to Top Gun Training School, which ended up being super awesome and totally hilarious. Before airing the clip, Corden said it was "completely real" and that he was "completely terrified."
At 4:56 am, Cruise picked Corden up at Burbank Airport in a private plane, where Cruise flew them into the desert himself. Some may remember the last time Cruise was on The Late Late Show in 2018 when he forced Corden to skydive. Now Cruise is promoting his highly anticipated Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, so it was only fitting that they stay on the plane this time, but with Cruise as the pilot.
"You're not a pilot, you're an actor," a skeptical Corden pointed out.
"With all due respect, you played a lawyer in A Few Good Men, I don't want you to represent me in court, okay? I'm going to get on a 75-year-old plane with someone who isn't a lawyer, pilot," Corden asked before running in the opposite direction.
Eventually, Cruise got Corden strapped in, where he warned him that should the engine catch fire, he would "drop the hood, tip the nose up 45 degrees, and then turn around" and eventually "throw" Corden out of the plane. Understandably, the late-night host was petrified.
Corden had a rough time with that first flight and even felt a little sick when he finally landed on stable ground again. So you can imagine his reaction when Cruise pointed to a modern fighter jet capable of warfare and told him that they would be flying in that plane next.
But after some top gun practice, a little singing, and even a conga line that included a tiny model airplane, Corden was strapped in and hitting the highway into danger.
Of course, it wouldn't be a Tom Cruise flight if Maverick didn't reverse, which he did after telling Corden he'd "just fly straight."
"I love you and I hate you at the same time. That was absolutely outrageous," Corden said.
Back in the studio, Corden admitted that he emailed Cruise 24 hours before filming the segment, saying he had gotten cold feet and had to pull out. Luckily, Cruise didn't accept that and called the host and said, "It's going to be fine. I would never do anything to put you in danger. And I promise you, when you do, I think it'll be a day you'll never, ever forget."
In the end, Corden told Cruise, "I'm so thrilled you convinced me to do this," as they locked into a hug.
The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weekdays at 12:37 am on CBS.

'American Idol' officially crowns its Season 20 winner and viewers are surprised
American Idol officially crowned its season 20 winner on Sunday. While it was a great night of amazing performances from the season's top 10 contestants, the judges and some celebrity guests, the defining moment came upon Huntergirl and Noah Thompson after Leah Marlene was surprisingly eliminated in the first live voting round of the night. After a nationwide vote with nearly 16 million votes, the winner of Season 20 is Noah Thompson! While the Idol viewers were mostly stuck with Leah not making the final two and winning, they were also surprised that Huntergirl didn't win. However, it was a true underdog story for Noah, a 20-year-old construction worker father from Louisa, Kentucky, who only auditioned for Idol because his best friend secretly signed him. Noah undoubtedly had the least singing experience, which made his victory all the more rewarding for him and the fans. Overall, it's been a strong season filled with some really great talent, and American Idol Season 21 is now auditioning.
