Paris and London agreed late Tuesday (December 22) that drivers with a negative COVID-19 test result could board ferries to Calais.
The UK government said testing had started now but with serious delays.
The drivers are frustrated and confused.
"I don't know what's going on. The police will tell you what's going on. We just want to get out of the roundabout, let these people come out and say 'Bye', 'Good night'. Four nights here, four more nights here. We slept here for the last four nights. "
Many of the mostly European drivers are stranded with their trucks without access to hot food or sanitary facilities.
They keep getting angry when it becomes clear they may not get home with their families in time for Christmas.
The plan to bring them home is through quick testing.
Anyone with a positive result will do a more comprehensive PCR test, which will take longer to get a result.
And everyone who tests positive again is given a hotel room to isolate.
But drivers like Stella from Bulgaria aren't sure where or how to achieve that.
“We're still here because they asked for a PCR test for COVID-19 and we have nowhere to do it. We made an appointment to go to the airport to have a test but I think now the streets are closed and if we leave we cannot come back ... we have nothing to eat, we have nothing to drink, we have nothing. Nobody doesn't care about us. "
The Road Haulage Association estimated that up to 10,000 trucks were detained in Kent.
The situation is chaotic because the test system is not yet ready.
