Trump Economic Adviser Filmed Bashing President's 'Crappy' Debate Performance
Donald Trump's economic adviser Stephen Moore was caught on video complaining about the president's "crappy" debating performance against his Democratic rival Joe Biden.
“It wasn't a great performance by Trump. In fact, I thought it was a pretty crappy achievement, ”Moore told a crowd who gathered in Washington earlier this month for the“ election protection summit ”organized by the Trump-backing nonprofit FreedomWorks.
Moore also admitted that Trump's first debate against former Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election was similarly “terrible”.
"Oh my god, he's been so bad at this debate, just horrible," Moore said at the October 2 reception that opened the conference with a Wisconsin Watchdog Group Documented video examining corporate impact on public order becomes.
The economist recalled leaving New York's Hofstra University after the 2016 debate with his “buddy,” now White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow. He told the audience, "My friend called me and said," Steve, looks like you and Larry aren't going to the White House anytime soon. "
But Moore said that Trump "assembled" and later "beat up" Clinton in subsequent debates and that "that will happen" in Trump's future encounters with Biden - "God willing," he added.
Speakers at the FreedomWorks conference railed against postal ballot papers and referred to contingency plans to question a possible Trump loss. Moore welcomed the strong economy during the Trump administration, but also said the elections will be "very close".
The keynote speaker was prominent Conservative attorney Cleta Mitchell, who a few days earlier had attended the White House Superspreader event in the Rose Garden on Sept. 26, where Trump officially announced the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. The following week, the president, first lady, and more than 35 other people associated with or attending the event tested positive for the coronavirus.
Mitchell was photographed at the conference without a mask in a group of people. Almost no one at the conference wore masks or maintained social distancing guidelines to help contain the spread of the coronavirus. It was unclear whether anyone had heard of Mitchell's participation in the Rose Garden event. FreedomWorks did not respond to HuffPost's request for comment.
Moore suggested on Sunday that the U.S. doesn't need a $ 2 trillion stimulus package to help the country's businesses and workers deal with the pandemic.
“The economy is really showing signs of recovery. I don't care what the papers say, ”he said on John Catsimatidis' radio show on WABC 770.
HuffPost was unable to reach Moore immediately to comment on his assessment of Trump's debating performance.
