In a tweet on Christmas Day, the President described the First Lady as "the greatest of all time" and lambasted the fashion press as "wrong news".
He retweeted a Breitbart news article that said, "The elite snobs of the fashion press kept the most elegant first lady in American history off the covers of their magazines for four consecutive years."
It was linked to an article from the outlet discussing the first lady's outfit for the couple's departure from the White House for Christmas break in Mar-a-Lago.
As a former model, Ms. Trump has appeared on the covers of magazines in the past, including the cover of Vogue, after she was married to Mr. Trump but before she was first lady.
However, Michelle Obama has appeared on at least 12 different front pages during her eight years in the White House.
The president groans at the lack of admiration for his wife as many Americans have had a meager vacation season and millions faced the possible loss of unemployment insurance.
There was little understanding of the president's complaint and many questions about his priorities.
Others were quick to point out that the boots Ms. Trump wore, which were the focus of the Breitbart article, cost more than $ 2,000 - the amount the president would ask Congress for individual stimulus checks.
