"For all the conspiracy theorists out there, this case is not widespread electoral fraud today," Bartman's attorney Samuel Stretton told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "This case was evidence that a person committed election fraud by casting an inappropriate and illegal ballot."
"In his political frustration, he decided to do something stupid," Stretton explained of his client. "And he's very sorry about that."
It all started when rumors surfaced on social media that someone had cast an illegal ballot. Then someone filed a complaint with the Delaware County Board of Elections, and a task force was able to find evidence to support the claims.
"In the hundreds of calls we have received and the hundreds of visits we have made, we have only found one case of wrongdoing and that was Mr. Bartman," said first assistant district attorney and head of task force Tanner Rouse. "And he is being prosecuted."
Bartman was charged Friday and released on $ 100,000 unsecured bail.

This is now the third instance of electoral fraud in Pennsylvania, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Malvern-based Republican Ralph Thurman, 71, cast two votes on election day using a disguise to apply to his son. The Chester County Attorney's Office has brought charges against the senior.
In October, Lucerne County's 67-year-old Robert Lynn was charged after requesting a ballot for his late mother.
