Quoting Fox and Friends moderator Brian Kilmeade in a Twitter post, the US president suggested he was behind the incentive, which includes a direct payment of $ 600 (£ 450) to Americans.
"The president was responsible for these direct payments to Americans in the Covid-19 Relief Bill," wrote Trump, citing Kilmeade's comments on Fox and Friends.
While the post-Congress president is set to sign the $ 900 billion (£ 676 billion) pandemic bill, the package was drafted by the leaders of Congress on both sides, not Mr Trump.
"We finally have the bipartisan breakthrough the country needed," said Senate Chairman Mitch McConnell on Sunday.
Nancy Pelosi, the House spokeswoman, said, although she welcomed the deal, "we need to do more".
According to the Associated Press, temporary additional unemployment benefits of $ 300 (£ 225) per week will be paid to millions and $ 600 (£ 450) direct to most Americans.
There are also subsidies for hard-hit businesses and money for schools, health care providers and tenants who are about to be evicted.
The package included a $ 1.4 trillion (£ 1 trillion) government funding plan, as well as other measures related to taxes, health, infrastructure and education.
President-elect Biden praised the bipartisan agreement by congressmen and said in a statement on Sunday that the proposals were "a model for the challenging work of our nation."
Democrats suggested that more incentive laws be passed to help Americans once Mr Biden becomes president next month.
Republicans and the US president largely disagreed with Democratic calls for larger stimulus payments over months of failed negotiations until recent efforts, which the progressives deemed insufficient to help fighters, fell short.
