Twitter is responding to Lady Antebellum changing its name due to slavery association

Yesterday, on June 11th, the country music trio Lady Antebellum announced on social media that they had deleted "antebellum" from their name - now officially from "Lady A." They explained that they were making the change because of the connection between the word and Antebellum South, the pre-civil war period when blacks were enslaved in several southern states.
The group's members - Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood - said they originally called their group Lady Antebellum because they often took photos in southern antebellum-style houses and were inspired by southern music. Now, however, the group states that they are "sorry and embarrassed" that they have not considered their associations with slavery.
“We have watched and listened more than ever in the past few weeks and our hearts have been moved by conviction. Our eyes opened wide to the injustices, inequalities and prejudices that black women and men faced and continued to face each day. The group said in a June 11 Twitter statement that was also posted on Instagram.

“After a lot of personal reflection, band discussions, prayers and many honest conversations with some of our closest black friends and colleagues, we decided to remove the word 'antebellum' from our name and move forward as Lady A, the nickname that our fans almost gave us from the beginning. "
The decision to rethink their band name comes after weeks of protests in response to the recent police injustice of an unarmed black man, George Floyd from Minneapolis. Although they realize the decision to change their name associated with slavery fairly late in the game, Kelley, Scott, and Haywood vow to acknowledge their lack of action and convert it into an action for change.
Both fans and critics went to Twitter to discuss the band's transition to Lady A.
Many have been waiting for the name change since the group was founded, suggesting that other high-profile groups do the same.

Her name was honest, why I have never heard her music. I had already accepted the Duo Civil Wars, but Lady Antebellum ... no.

Lady Antebellum started in 2006. At that time, its youngest member was 20, its oldest 25.

You want to tell me that in those years nobody in this group didn't know that the word "antebellum" had associations with slavery?

Some were confused and / or joked about the whole "Lady A" thing. Did you actually change your name if the A still clearly stands for "antebellum"?

I was busy, but to regroup for a moment: Lady Antebellum changed her name to Lady A, where the "A" stands for "Antebellum", which was complete before ...? Is that correct or ...

"Lady Antebellum" changed its name to "Lady A", didn't it?

And they said it was the nickname their fans gave them, which is obviously an abbreviation for "Antebellum", right?

How can you shorten the word better? I'm honestly confused ...

Detecting misconduct is the first step. To really take action, Lady A should continue to raise awareness and do everything possible to reinforce the black voices in the music industry, especially country music.
