Two passengers on Celebrity Millennium 100% vaccinated sailing test positive for COVID
The Celebrity Millenium.
Two passengers who shared a room aboard Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Millennium ship, which carried only fully vaccinated passengers and crew, tested positive for COVID-19, the cruise line said in a statement.
The tests were positive during end-of-cruise testing, which will be completed 72 hours before returning to the United States, Celebrity Cruises spokesperson Jonathon Fishman told USA TODAY.
All passengers were required to provide proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the ship's departure from the Caribbean island of St. Maarten on Saturday. The ship is currently docked in Curaco and the passengers who tested positive will remain isolated on board, Fishman said. The ship will return to St. Maarten this Saturday to disembark.
"Individuals are asymptomatic and are currently isolated and monitored by our medical team," the Celebrity statement said. "We are conducting contact tracing, speeding up the tests for all close contacts, and closely monitoring the situation."
