UK's Prince Philip, 99, moves hospital for heart tests

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Prince Philip, the 99-year-old husband of Queen Elizabeth, was transferred to another hospital in central London on Monday to have tests for a pre-existing heart condition and treat an infection.
Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was admitted to London's King Edward VII private hospital two weeks ago to treat an unspecified infection unrelated to COVID-19.
On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced that he had been moved to St. Bartholomew's Hospital, which is a center of excellence in heart care, for further treatment and observation.
"The duke is still feeling well and responding to treatment, but is expected to stay in the hospital at least until the end of the week," said a statement from the palace.
Photographers and television crews at King Edward Hospital had previously seen a patient rushed into an ambulance sheltered from media viewing by staff with umbrellas and police, although there was no confirmation that this was the prince.
The 94-year-old monarch has stayed at her home in Windsor Castle, west of London, where the couple stayed during the coronavirus lockdown, and continued to do her official duties last week, albeit via video.
Both received their first dose of the COVID vaccine and the Duke's illness is unrelated to the virus.
Philip had to be hospitalized several times over the past decade to make his bladder infection recur. At Christmas 2011, he had to have an operation to clear a clogged artery in his heart after being hospitalized with chest pain.
