US border agent found dead after disappearing on patrol in New Mexico

According to U.S. customs and border guards, a border guard covering a trail in New Mexico was found dead.
Johan Mordan, a first year border guard, disappeared into the Bootheel in New Mexico on Saturday after other agents lost communication with him.

A few minutes after the agents lost contact with Mr. Mordan, they found the 26-year-old unconscious and unresponsive on the trail.
The agents performed CPR on Mr. Mordan while waiting for the air support to arrive at the scene, but were unable to resuscitate him.
In a statement, Customs and Border Guard said: "The agents tried hard to save him, unfortunately BPA Mordan could not be revived."
They added, "All proper notifications and investigation reports have been initiated."
Mr. Mordan, who joined Border Patrol on July 8, 2019, was part of the organization's El Paso sector, which covers New Mexico and part of Texas, according to the El Paso Times.
Acting US Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan paid tribute to Mordan on Twitter.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and the authorities confirmed that they are waiting for the results of an autopsy.
