Video shows bull jumping into crowded stands at Idaho rodeo
A popular video showed a bull jumping onto bleachers filled with spectators during a rodeo in Idaho Thursday.
Kris Beckstead, chairman of That Famous Preston Night Rodeo, told NBC News Monday that the incident occurred Thursday night during a bull riding competition at the rodeo in Preston, about 30 miles north of the Idaho and Utah border.
The bull and onlookers were not injured in the incident, she said.
"After dropping its rider, the bull continued circling the arena," said Beckstead. "It seemed he thought he could jump the barrier, so he aimed at the cable fence."
Beckstead, who attended Thursday's competition, said the bull attempted to jump over the cable but was thrown off balance after the cable broke and fell back into the arena.
The video showed viewers screaming as the bull rushes towards the crowd and is pulled back into the arena by the cable fence.
"We're glad last night didn't turn out as bad as it could have been!" The rodeo said in a Facebook statement.
The bull was brought under control by other cattle dealers shortly after the incident, according to Beckstead, but it was unclear whether the bull would be euthanized.
She added that the bull has not jumped into crowds in the past and that she has only witnessed a similar incident once while working at the rodeo.
"It could have been worse, but nobody got hurt and everyone was a little upset," she said. "It was just a thrill for everyone - some girls cried so they probably won't go to a rodeo again."
