Vikings: Our only concern at this time is the safety and well-being of Everson Griffen and his family

The Vikings have issued a statement on the defensive end of Everson Griffen, who posted a video and screenshots of text messages on social media alleging someone tried to kill him early Wednesday morning.
"Representatives from the Vikings and the team's psychiatrists have been at Everson Griffen's home this morning working with law enforcement," the Minnesota statement said. “Our only concern right now is the safety and wellbeing of Everson and his family. We will make further comments in due course. "
The posts of the video and text messages have been deleted. Griffen's video showed him sitting in a room holding a gun that he claimed was registered for him and that a teammate helped him acquire it. The screen shots of text messages believed to have been sent to his agent were sent in the middle of the night asking for help.
Griffen dealt with mental health issues back in 2018 that kept him away from five games. Griffen also suffered a concussion earlier this season after having a car accident that occurred while trying to avoid a deer on the street.
At his press conference on Wednesday, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer didn't have much to add to the organization's statement.
“He's been with us for a long time. Work hard, ”Zimmer said of St. Paul Pioneer Press’s Chris Tomasson. Zimmer noticed that he wasn't sure if Griffen was safe or what his game status might be. But the head coach emphasized that the well-being of Griffen is most important to him.
The Vikings will play against the 49ers on Sunday.
