Walt Disney World To Roll Out A New Reservation System When Parks Reopen Next Month

In addition to the numerous changes and new security protocols, Walt Disney World will introduce a new reservation system when the Florida theme parks reopen next month. It is known as the Disney Park Pass System. Visitors not only need a valid parking ticket or an annual ticket to get into the park, they also have to make a reservation for the pass system in advance for each park entry.
The Disney Park Pass System, the new online tool that will soon be available on DisneyWorld.com, is Walt Disney World's method of managing attendance during the reopening phase.
"We take a deliberate approach that includes presence restrictions and controlled guest density to comply with health and government regulations on physical distance," wrote Avery Maehrer, communications manager at Walt Disney World Resort, on the Disney Parks blog. "We also use technology to develop creative solutions as we develop new ways for guests to visit the most magical place in the world in this unique setting."

To begin with, guests must register for a My Disney Experience account and link their tickets. You then have access to a calendar with available reservation dates for each park. (Parks reopening on July 11th include Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Animal Kingdom and EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios on July 15th.) Multi-day ticket holders must make a park reservation for each visit. You can even link family and friends' tickets and arrange your visits at the same time.
The new system seems simple, but keep in mind that guests are currently unable to visit more than one park per day due to attendance restrictions.
"We hope to be able to visit more than one park per day again soon, and we will continue to offer these add-ons to buy tickets for 2021," says Maehrer.
The Disney Park Pass system is not yet complete, but when it is in operation, it will be opened to guests in phases, starting with guests with future Disney Resort and other select hotel stays. Existing ticket holders and annual ticket holders will, according to Maehrer, receive further information from this week on when they can check availability and make reservations. Later in the summer, they will resume selling 2020 tickets and arriving at the Disney resort hotel.
Another date to mark on your calendar is June 28th. Then guests can buy new Disney Resort hotel packages and theme park tickets and make their parking reservations for arrivals from 2021. They also plan to launch new MagicBands in 2021.
"We look forward to welcoming you back to the most magical place in the world!" Maehrer says.
