Dua Lipa returned to Saturday Night Live as a musical guest for the final episode of the 2020 series. In addition to songs from her second album Future Nostalgia, she also appeared in a sketch alongside Kristen Wiig and Bowen Yang.
For the sketch, Wiig portrayed the nurse Aubra July, who sings for troops during a USO performance. She taps one of the soldiers - Yang who plays Private Garrett - to sing a song called "Love Bite" with her. While Wiig plays the husband, Yang poses as the woman who found out that her husband is having an affair. The soldiers seem a bit confused that the two roles are playing the opposite sex, even though they seem to be stepping into the plot. Later, Dua Lipa appears and plays Marjorie, the girl the husband is cheating with.
For Dua's musical performance she played the future nostalgia tracks "Don't Start Now" and "Levitating". The first time she appeared on SNL was over two years ago when she took the stage to sing tracks from her self-titled debut project. She was actually supposed to return after releasing her last album last March, but the gig was canceled due to the pandemic.
The singer has received six awards at upcoming Grammys in 2021, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Future Nostalgia. Watch her SNL sketch above.
