WATCH: Florida Boaters Rescue Dog Struggling Alone in the Open Ocean and Find Pet's Family

A casual day on the water turned into a heroic boat ride for a group of friends from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
According to NBC2 News, Bryn Cromwell and her friends were recently taking a boat trip in the waters around Fort Lauderdale and discovered a small dog who was having trouble staying afloat alone in the open ocean.
The group on the boat decided to rescue the dog from the troubled water they found the dog in and brought the pet on board. On Monday, Cromwell shared footage of the life-saving efforts on TikTok, and the clip now has over 9.9 million views.
"Just Florida things," Cromwell captioned the viral clip.
The video shows someone from the boat in rough seas holding the little dog. The couple paddles back to the boat, where another person helps the pooch on board. Concerned animal lovers quickly surround the dog.

In a series of follow-up videos, Cromwell explains how she and her friends reunited the dog named Zuko with his family, and how the pet ended up alone in the ocean.
After rescuing Zuko, Cromwell and her friends called the number they found on the tag attached to the dog's collar, according to Cromwell's TikTok. Zuko's relieved owner, who lives a 20-minute boat ride from where Cromwell found the dog, replied "crying and grateful."
After Cromwell and her friends drove over to reunite Zuko with his family, the puppy's owners gave the group $ 300 to cover their gasoline bills as a thank you.
On a third TikTok, Cromwell shared a text exchange with Zuko's owners about how the dog ended up in the water.

"He hopped around in the back of the boat and 'bit' into the passing waves, and I guess at one of those moments he jumped a little too high and jumped overboard," Zuko's owner reads into Cromwell's TikTok.
The owner added that as soon as they discovered that Zuko was missing, they and their family ransacked the boat, believing that Zuko was hiding. After failing to find him, they tried to trace their boat trip but still couldn't find the dog, so they view it as a "miracle" that Cromwell and her friends got Zuko home safely.
In a fourth TikTok update on Zuko, Cromwell shares that the pooch is in good health after his ocean torture and that his owners are incredibly grateful to Cromwell and her friends for their quick thinking.
