Watch: Hornets’ LaMelo Ball finally scores his first NBA points
On Saturday, Charlotte Hornet's rookie LaMelo Ball registered his first NBA points in the second game of the year after going goalless in Wednesday's season opener.
Ball scored his first point on the free-throw line against the Oklahoma City Thunder after being fouled in a layup attempt. He switched to one of two shots off the line early in the first quarter when his first official bucket came just seconds later.
The 19-year-old scored his first basket a few possessions later after hitting the edge on his right hard. Ball then emptied his first career 3-pointer, a deep look from the top of the key.
Ball missed all five of his shot attempts from the ground in the season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He dealt three assists and had two steals in nearly 16 minutes of work from the bank during the loss, while also making three turnovers.
Overall, Ball finished the first quarter with nine points at team level.
