Wendy Williams' Family Worried After She Doubles Down On Claim She's Married To NYPD Cop: Report
Wendy Williams' family have feared for Williams' health after the former talk show host claimed she married a New York police officer.
According to Page Six, Williams' family is concerned that Williams is surrounded by people who don't have their best interests at heart. As reported earlier this week, Williams told boyfriend and Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee that she married a cop named Henry.
Her family, on the other hand, told Page Six that Williams never mentioned getting married.
William Selby, a jeweler and now Williams representative, told Page Six that she is not married and is just happy about their relationship. But Williams reiterated her marriage claims, and Hollywood Unlocked released the audio call to the public.
During the conversation with Lee, Williams also claimed that her American Express card stopped working, prompting Selby and another close friend to help her maintain access to one of her financial accounts. She also reportedly revealed another shocker: that she's asked her team to keep everyone apart from her son Kevin Hunter Jr. This differs from what Tommy Williams, her brother, claimed in July. According to him, Williams kept Kevin Jr. away from her even though her son came to visit her for her birthday.
In a video on his YouTube page, Tommy Williams, Williams' brother, seemed to allude to the new allegations, saying: "I find it a farce, I find it very sad that the family has to function down here and sort everything out. how to function while Wendy struggles to get back on track.”
"We have an abundance of love, patience and knowledge of Wendy ... to be able to help her far better than she is helping herself and the few people around her who are causing nothing but dysfunction and pulling her in the opposite direction," said he. Finally, he directly addressed Lee's decision to publish his conversation with Williams on Hollywood Unlocked.
"I don't know this guy who made a call and recorded it, great that shows how friendly he is doesn't it? A real friend," Tommy said, adding, "I hope this gave you [Lee] everything you were looking for. You don't know what your character is...but guess what? Great. What a friend."
Tommy continued, saying that Williams should "pull himself off the shelf and get better." He also clarified that despite what Williams may have told Lee about the family not being able to speak to her, the family was in touch with Williams at all times.
"Nobody pushed a family away and the family can't talk to Wendy, only her son, that's a lie. I talk to Wendy all the time," he said. "...Family is in touch with Wendy, Wendy is in touch with family. We just would like more. I don't think we're going to get anywhere with her up there. She has too much independence and not enough hands on deck. She has too many malefactors trying to find opportunities to thrive [despite] Wendy's well-being right now, and she doesn't need that right now. Nobody needs that.”
Currently, Williams is reportedly working with Selby on a new podcast called The Wendy Experience.
