When it comes to deforestation, nothing beats a hamburger

Researchers have known for decades that raw materials management is driving deforestation. Seven goods were found on which 72 million hectares of forest were lost, an area twice the size of Germany. Of this, livestock is responsible for 16% of the total loss of tree cover, or 45.1 million hectares, an area roughly equivalent to Sweden.
