"For months, President Trump did everything in his power to give the Americans much-needed financial relief," said Jake Sherman of Politico. "We look forward to Congress sending an invoice to its desk for signature."
The White House did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
The leaders of Congress struck the long-awaited deal on Sunday and cleared the hurdles that the negotiations had torn down for months. Trump's apparent support for the aid deal could lead to more GOP support and help make the Senate transition smoother. Many Republican senators oppose further federal spending, spearheading the growing budget deficit.
Republicans and Democrats came to an agreement after months of failed negotiations. After pumping over $ 3 trillion into the economy in the spring. The legislature has not passed a new relief plan since April. The new legislation will include $ 600 stimulus checks, $ 300 weekly unemployment benefits, support for small businesses, and funding for schools and universities.
No invoice text has yet been published.
Individuals who earned up to $ 75,000 in 2019 will receive the full $ 600 stimulus check. That income threshold will be doubled to $ 150,000 for couples, according to a congressional summary received from Business Insider. A family of four can receive financial relief of $ 2,400 under the contract.
The parameters are in line with an earlier economic aid package that Congress approved in March. Earlier this year, lawmakers cleared a wave of stimulus checks totaling $ 1,200 when the pandemic first hit the country.
Trump urged Congress to pass coronavirus relief law for months before announcing, weeks before the 2020 election, that its negotiations were complete. At times he also asked for larger checks.
On Saturday, the night before the deal was announced, the president urged Americans to get "more money for direct payments."
Congress is expected to vote on the package on Monday. After that, he will go to Trump's desk to sign.
