Woman Gives Birth While Taking Bar Exam Like The Boss She Is
An expectant mother gave birth to a healthy boy and finished the bar exam the next day
Women are the real superheroes in the world, and this new mom is no exception. Brianna Hill passed the bar exam - which is a challenge in and of itself - but she decided to keep improving it while having a baby at the same time. They know how you do.
CNN reports that Hill, a graduate of Chicago's Loyola University School of Law, was quite surprised when the scheduled bar exam date was postponed due to the pandemic. She originally thought she would be 28 weeks pregnant during the exam, but instead she was a little further away.
"I thought I was only 28 weeks pregnant when I took the bar," Hill told CNN. “However, due to the pandemic, the test was postponed until October and I would be 38 weeks old. I joked about the test from my hospital bed. Lesson learned!"
The remote version of the test contains four 90-minute sections that were conducted over two days. She told NBC Chicago that you have to stand in front of your computer camera the entire time to make sure you don't cheat on the exam. About 30 minutes after the exam, she said she got up and found that her water was broken.
"I couldn't check and finished the first section. As soon as I got up when I was done, I knew my water was broken," she said.
While most of us would have thrown in the towel and said to the proctor, “Hi, um. I'm going to have a baby today instead, m'kay bye, ”Hill continued. "I took my break, let me clean up, called my husband, my midwife and my mother, cried because I was panicking a little, and then sat down to do the second part because my midwife told me I would have time before I had to go to the hospital, "she added.
After completing the first two sections, she drove to the hospital and her new boy arrived just hours later.
“The whole time my husband and I were talking about how to finish the test, and my midwife and nurses were on board like that. I just had no other option in mind, ”said Hill. So they gathered around her and made her hospital room the next day's testing center.
Staff posted a "Do Not Disturb" sign on her door, and Hill took the remainder of the exam from her hospital bed, nursing her baby like all the ass she is during breaks.
"My husband and law school friends gave me so much encouragement that I was able to cross the finish line under less than ideal circumstances," she said. "And my family, especially my sister, kept reminding me how to do it, even when I wasn't so sure about myself."
This woman is certainly a rock star, but also - why is the bar exam so difficult to postpone, should there be no exception when a woman goes to work? Hey Illinois regulators, you can make sure this isn't a recurring thing because it's really insane that she had to take the bar exam from her hospital bed. Checking something out, Kay thanks, bye.
