Boston is +3000 to win the World Series in the latest title odds at DraftKings Sportsbook after it was announced on Tuesday that the 2020 season will indeed take place after months of tense negotiations between MLB and MLBPA amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Red Sox also have +1300 chances to win the American League pennant. Five teams in the AL have better chances.
Who are the World Series favorites? A couple of perennial contenders in the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.
2020 MLB trading date announced
Here are the updated winning chances for the 2020 championship via DraftKings Sportsbook:
L.A. Dodgers: +375
Houston Astros: +650
Atlanta Braves: +1300
Minnesota Twins: +1600
Tampa Bay Rays: +1800
Washington Nationals: +1800
NJ Mets: +2000
Philadelphia Phillies: +2000
St. Louis Cardinals: +2000
The Nationals are defending champions for the first time in team history and face the challenge of becoming the first repeat World Series winner since the 1998 New York Yankees three-point win.
The Dodgers have been World Series favorites for much of the past decade. L.A. has contested the playoffs in seven consecutive seasons, a run that includes four appearances in the National League Championship Series and two appearances in the World Series (both losses). The Dodgers recently almost ended their 30-year title drought, but quitting the job has proven to be quite difficult. The takeover of superstar outfielder Mookie Betts in a deal with the Red Sox earlier this year raised the hopes of the World Series in Los Angeles again.
