Thursday's episode of Dark Side of the Ring featured the infamous Plane Ride From Hell, a nightmarish transatlantic flight in 2002 in which drunk wrestlers fought mid-flight and allegedly harassed flight attendants. During this flight, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is said to have played one of his famous pranks. According to Dreamer and Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam, Flair stripped down to his wrestling robe, ran his signature strut down the airplane aisle, and twirled his penis like a helicopter as a gag for his fellow wrestlers.
"That's what the guys wanted to see, it makes them laugh," Van Dam said during the episode.
Heidi Doyle in Dark Side of the Ring
Flight attendant Heidi Doyle claimed Flair came to the galley in the back of the plane for a Coke and forced her to touch his penis. "I could not move. I couldn't get away from him, ”she said. "He turned around his penis and wanted me to touch it ... He took my hand and put it on top of him."
Van Dam subsequently confirmed Doyle's story: "I remember he crowded her and tried to get her to touch him and so on," he said.
Dreamer defended Flair, saying that “Ric Flair will not try to force sexual things on anyone. He just brags, styles and profiles and does the Ric Flair stuff that will make everyone laugh about it, but obviously someone took offense. "
Ric Flair has previously denied Doyle's allegations. In 2004, Doyle and a second flight attendant filed a lawsuit against WWE and several wrestlers, including Flair, for assault, assault, willful infliction of emotional distress, and wrongful imprisonment. Both parties finally reached an out-of-court settlement.
Addressing the settlement subsequently, Dreamer said, "If she felt like this, maybe she shouldn't have made a withdrawal and used the law to its fullest extent to really get this heinous person to jail."
Without addressing Doyle directly, Dreamer continued, “I have a feeling that this is trying to portray someone as a sexual predator and it is not. It's a joke, it's a gag, and 1,000 percent inappropriate today ... I hung out with Ric Flair. I've never seen him try to impose his will against anyone. "
Doyle said Flair was wrong. "I don't feel that his intention was to rape me, but what he did was wrong," she said. “It was wrong and he goes to sleep that night thinking he came back from his wrestling trip in Europe and maybe he's got a headache from drinking too many cocktails on the plane. And yet I didn't go to sleep that night. "
“My trip to work, my trip to get money, to support my daughter, becomes a memory I can live with forever. Like living with having to see a naked man and lick my face off a man [she claimed WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall also molested her on the flight] that I was there to make sure he was got safely from point A to point B and they went to sleep thinking they got home safe, ”she added.
