Yoko Ono Shares Rare Family Photo on What Would've Been John Lennon's 80th Birthday

In honor of John Lennon's 80th birthday, Yoko Ono used social media to share an old family photo of himself with the legendary singer and her son Sean. The now 87-year-old shared a beautiful vintage black and white picture of Lennon, herself and toddler Sean hand in hand on her Instagram Friday. Her son Sean Lennon has the same birthday as his late father and is now 45 years old.
Sean was only 5 years old when his father was murdered. "Some days I felt like life wasn't worth it," Ono said in an interview with the Daily News. "But it was important that I was there for Sean, otherwise he would have lost two parents," Ono continued. "I love him very much, wish John were here to see him grow," she said. "Maybe he's watching."
Sean, who looks very much like his father, followed in his late father's footsteps as a musician. The 45-year-old singer paid homage to singer "Imagine" on Thursday night on The Late Show. Stephen Colbert sang a cover of "Isolation" for the music series #PlayAtHome.
The cover helped kickstart a "Lennon 80" cover series that continues today October 9th. Many artists will upload covers of John Lennon songs to YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. "We are absolutely thrilled and honored to bring John Lennon's music to a new generation and we are excited to see how the TikTok community will be inspired to create the sounds of Lennon's repertoire," said Corey Sheridan, Head of Music Partnerships and Content TikTok activities said. "Lennon's timeless texts are as relevant today as they were when they were written."
