You'll never guess the name of Cam Smith's and other PGA Tour player's haircutter
Australian Cameron Smith is known for wearing a lively mullet on tour and for the Olympics he added spice to his hair and etched "AUS" on the side of his head.
But you'll never guess who styles their hair ... Lee Trevino.
No, not the six-time major champion. This Trevino runs a salon in Jacksonville, Florida where he has worked on hair for 15 years, and his name is no accident.
"Yeah, well [Trevino] lives in Jacksonville, only through a friend of a friend, and he's also named after Lee Trevino," said Smith. "His dad's last name was and he was a golfer so he decided to run with it."
While not that great of a golfer, this Trevino has contributed to golf in his own way by cutting the hair of numerous PGA Tour players. Trevino told Golfweek that he cut the hair of Matt Every, Doc Redman, Jonas Blixt, and others.
Overall ratings from the men's Olympic competition
"There's such a strong golf community here in Ponte Verda Beach and Jacksonville," Trevino told Golfweek. "And I know guys can get a haircut elsewhere for $ 20, but when they get to someone like me it takes a little longer and is easier to maintain over time."
A men's haircut and style in Trevino's salon, Tonic & Tweed, starts at $ 65. For a few dollars more, you can pay homage to Smith's spirited style too.
